Culture shock moments that made me laugh

Coming from Russia, I thought I was prepared for cultural differences. I was NOT. Here are my funniest culture shock moments so far:

The age question. Within 5 minutes of meeting someone new, they ask your age. Every. Single. Time. It's not rude here - they need to know which speech level to use. But coming from a culture where asking a woman's age is taboo, this took some getting used to.

Couple culture. Matching outfits?! The first time I saw a couple wearing identical shirts, shoes, and even phone cases, I thought it was a coincidence. Nope. It's a whole thing here and honestly, it's growing on me.

The bowing reflex. After a few weeks in Korea, I caught myself bowing to a vending machine after it gave me my drink. I have been fully assimilated.

Personal space on the subway. During rush hour, strangers will literally push you into the train. No apology, no eye contact. It's just how it works. Now I'm a pro at squeezing into impossible spaces.

Despite (or maybe because of) these moments, I've really come to appreciate Korean culture. Every day is an adventure!

I had the exact same experience. It gets better after a few weeks!
